Epoxy Resin Calculator - Estimate Materials

Epoxy Resin Calculator - Know Exactly What You'll Need

Welcome to our Epoxy Resin Calculator, designed to take the guesswork out of your project. Whether you are creating art pieces, coating tabletops, pouring river tables, or sealing floors, one question always comes up:

Why Use an Epoxy Resin Calculator?

Epoxy is unique - once mixed, the resin and hardener undergo a chemical reaction that cannot be reversed. This means mixing the correct amount is essential to avoid:

  • Running out of resin halfway through a pour
  • Mixing too much and wasting material
  • Color differences in layered pours
  • Uneven surfaces or improper curing

Our calculator ensures every project starts with the right volume, saving you time, money, and effort.

How To Calculate Epoxy Resin Coverage

For Rectangular or Square Surfaces:If your project has straight edges (tables, trays, countertops, panels), the required epoxy volume is based on:

  • Volume = Length × Width × Thickness.
  • Example: A 24" × 12" surface with 1/8" thickness.
  • Thickness as decimal = 0.125"
  • The calculator will multiply these values and convert them into millilitres, litres, ounces, or gallons, depending on your preference.

    For Round or Circular Surfaces

If you're working on coasters, round tables, or discs, simply enter:

    Diameter Desired thickness

The calculator uses the correct geometric formula to determine total epoxy volume for perfectly accurate results.

Recommended Thickness Values (Decimal Conversion Guide)

This is especially helpful for deep pour projects such as river tables or thick castings.

    1/8″=0.125
    1/4″=0.25
    3/8″=0.375
    1/2″=0.50
    5/8″=0.625
    3/4″=0.75
    7/8″=0.875
    1″=1.00

This is especially helpful for deep pour projects such as river tables or thick castings.

    Mixing Ratios Made Simple

Most epoxy resin systems use a 1:1 or 2:1 mixing ratio. After calculating your total volume:

    • Divide according to resin (Part A) and hardener (Part B)
    • Mix slowly to reduce bubbles
    • Pour immediately to maintain proper working time

If your specific epoxy uses a different ratio, apply the same ratio to the calculator’s result.

What This Calculator Is Ideal For

  • Epoxy art & crafts
  • Tabletops and countertops
  • Floor coatings
  • Coasters, trays, jewellery moulds
  • Deep-pour river tables
  • Resin casting in moulds

What This Calculator Is Not Intended For

  • Fiberglass laminating
  • Carbon fibre wet-out
  • Marine composite layups
  • Flexible resin systems

These processes require different calculations and resin behaviours.

Tips for Accurate Epoxy Measurements

  • Always round up slightly - epoxy is better in excess than too little.
  • Wood is porous and requires a seal coat before the main pour
  • Remember that uneven surfaces can absorb more resin.
  • Wood is porous and often needs a seal coat before the main pour.
  • Deep pours may require multiple layers depending on your resin type.
  • Temperature and humidity can affect coverage and curing.
